Our Nursery Area

Nursery Area – Where Every Falconwood Life Begins

Every Falconwood puppy begins life in our nursery area, which is located in our own bedroom. From the moment they’re born, our mums and puppies stay with us in a quiet, temperature-controlled environment where they’re never far from our side.

Having our nursery in our bedroom means our mums don’t have to leave the place they know and love. They continue sleeping beside us, just as they always have, while we can keep a close eye on them and their puppies day and night. We wouldn’t have it any other way.

At Falconwood, our mums always come first. We believe in being proactive wherever we can, because we’d much rather identify a concern early than wait until it becomes an emergency.

To help us do that, we’ve invested in our own ultrasound equipment, allowing us to monitor our girls throughout pregnancy from the comfort of home. One of our favourite parts of every pregnancy is sharing these ultrasound videos with our waiting families, so they can watch their future puppy grow and begin falling in love long before they’re even born.

After the puppies arrive, we continue to closely monitor every mum. Our ultrasound is one of the tools we use to help assess that the whelping process is complete and to identify anything that may need prompt veterinary attention. We believe that careful monitoring and early action can make all the difference to a mum’s recovery.

Our nursery is also equipped with a dedicated puppy incubator and oxygen therapy equipment. Thankfully, they’re rarely needed, but puppies have a habit of arriving in the middle of the night! Having this equipment immediately available means we can provide supportive care while arranging urgent veterinary treatment if it’s ever required. We hope we never need it, but we believe being prepared is part of being a responsible breeder.

Our Puppy Play Ground

Once about 4-5 weeks old our puppies begin venturing outside to their very own one-acre puppy playground.

Every morning, the puppies excitedly make their way down the slide and out into a world designed just for them.

Their playground is filled with grass, trees, different surfaces, tunnels, climbing obstacles and plenty of room to run, play and explore. Right in the middle is their very own cubby house, complete with cosy beds and a little lounge where they can rest, play or simply watch the world go by.  Its situated right next to the Adult dogs 3 acre Playground.

We believe puppies should be allowed to be puppies. Every day is filled with new adventures, new experiences and lots of time to build confidence, all while having as much fun as possible.

At the end of the day, the puppies head back inside to spend the evening with us. More often than not you’ll find them curled up in front of the fire while we watch TV together before they happily wander off to their puppy bedroom for a good night’s sleep.

Our Puppy Bedroom

At around three weeks of age, our puppies move from our nursery area into their very own puppy bedroom.

Their bedroom is located right off the main hub of our home, between our kitchen and dining area. This means they’re surrounded by all the normal sights, sounds and smells of everyday family life. They hear us cooking dinner, chatting, watching TV, vacuuming, visitors coming and going and everything else that happens in a busy family home.

As the puppies grow, we gradually introduce new toys, different surfaces and age-appropriate enrichment to help build confidence, curiosity and problem-solving skills, all while Mum continues to spend as much time with them as she chooses.

One of our favourite features is the little slide that comes straight out of the puppy bedroom window. Once the puppies are ready to begin exploring outdoors, they quickly learn that the slide is the way to their very own one-acre puppy playground. Every morning, we slide them out the window into their dedicated play area, where they can run, explore and build confidence in a safe environment.

Their puppy playground is designed especially for them and includes plenty of open grass, trees, a cubby house, tunnels, climbing obstacles and lots of space to play, learn and simply enjoy being puppies.

Our Big Dogs Playground

When they’re not inside the house with us, our adult dogs have access to their own dedicated three-acre playground.

There’s plenty of room to run, wrestle, chase each other and simply enjoy being dogs, with lots of established trees providing shade and space to explore.  Smells of the wildlife to get the senses flowing.

Their favourite resting spot has to be their very own six-metre cubby house. We’ve decked it out with comfortable lounges, rugs and even a fireplace, giving them a cosy place to relax after a play or escape the cold on winter days.

Our dogs don’t live in kennels or runs. They live in our home as part of our family. Whether they’re outside playing in their paddock, stretched out on the lounge, sleeping on our beds or watching TV with us in front of the fire, they’re exactly where they’ve always belonged.
