What We Expect From This Litter

North and Nenya are a pairing we are incredibly excited about. Their puppies will be approximately 60% Old English Sheepdog and 40% Poodle, and we are expecting that beautiful, traditional Sheepdog look with the furnished Sheepadoodle coats we love.

We expect black/blue and white puppies with long, furnished coats ranging from straighter fleece through to soft waves. We are not expecting tight, curly Poodle-style coats from this pairing.

A higher percentage of Old English Sheepdog does not automatically mean a higher-shedding coat. Coat type and shedding are determined by the genes each puppy inherits, rather than simply their percentage of Poodle or OES.

Both North and Nenya have two copies of the low-shedding variant, and all of their puppies will be genetically furnished and long-haired. For this reason, we expect low-shedding furnished coats, although we never guarantee that any Sheepadoodle will be completely non-shedding.

This pairing is a lovely example of why we look beyond breed percentages when planning our litters. Nenya can pass either a straight or wavier coat gene, while North can only pass his straight coat gene. We therefore expect a beautiful mix of straighter fleece and softly wavy coats, with no puppies inheriting two curly coat genes.

We expect these puppies to be large Standard Sheepadoodles. North is approximately 61 cm at the wither and is expected to mature around 32–35 kg. Nenya is a little smaller at approximately 59 cm and 24 kg, although she comes from two very large parents. Based on both sides of the pedigree, we expect most puppies to mature around 28–35 kg and approximately 58–64 cm at the wither, with some variation between individual puppies.

Health and temperament always come first at Falconwood. North and Nenya have both completed our comprehensive health testing, and this pairing has an expected genomic COI of approximately 3%.
